A Modified Operation for Extraction of Senile Cataract

as the stage next to that of corneal section and iridectomy in the extraction of a hard cataract; and I believe that this rule is invariably followed by the ophthalmic surgeons of the present day. The modification I propose, and have adopted in all my late cases, is to tear the capsule of the lens as the first preliminary step in the operation for extraction of cataract. The advantages accruing from such a course will be understood only by those who have had some practice in cataract extractions.
